The Experience
Take aim in the mountains with clay shooting, archery, air rifle and tomahawk throwing offered year-round. Guided instruction is available.
- Clay shooting is available for guests ages 10 and up. Exceptions can be made based on experience level. All youth shooters need to be booked with an instructor.

Clay Shooting | Available Year-Round
Named by Esquire magazine as one of the nation’s top 25 courses, Primland Resort invites you to take aim at the sporting life as you test your skills in our mile-long sporting clay course. Groups or novices can enjoy a day outdoors learning about shooting across 14 stations with a variety of clay targets. In keeping with our deep commitment to the environment, all of our clay discs are biodegradable so that they don't pollute the Earth.

Private Instruction
Receive one-on-one instruction from one of our highly sought-after instructors. You will learn about safety, etiquette and will be taught in the Virginia tradition.

The Field Experience
Progressing through 14 stations over a mile-long course, participants are presented with a variety of clay targets. Face flushing clay targets that zip in and out of the trees. Challenge your skills at the “duck decoy” station where incoming targets float in towards you. At our “rabbit” station, targets are thrown end-over-end and skitter across the ground.

5-Stand
Five-stand incorporates the best of skeet, trap, and sporting clays into a field game that is fun and challenging. During this 25-shot round, each participant attempts five targets from each of five stations which provide a different perspective.

Archery + More
Archery
Target practice is a fun way to engage body and mind in Primland’s spectacular outdoor setting. Try your hand at archery with one of our expert instructors. Archery equipment includes PSE and Bear recurve bows and Genesis compound bows with Easton Jazz aluminum arrows. Primland’s experienced guides will demonstrate the proper grip and stance.
Air Rifle
Practice shooting at various targets on the air rifle range.
Tomahawk Throwing
An experienced guide will demonstrate the proper grip and stance in order to land a tomahawk in the target.
